About EMDR Intensives

The traditional model of weekly psychotherapy is evolving and shifting to meet your needs. Now more than ever, we need flexibility in how we get support.

  • Perhaps you’ve had a strong sense that something needs to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist.

  • Maybe you’ve been meaning to get into weekly therapy for a while now, but your schedule has been so hectic and demanding that a weekly therapy appointment feels more overwhelming than supportive.

  • Maybe you’re needing help —- and a lot of it—- right now, and you don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better.

EMDR intensives support the busy person who has even more on their plate, or the client who needs help now. Whatever the reason that weekly sessions just won’t work for you, EMDR intensives are available to support you during times you need help the most.

I offer EMDR intensives for my current clients when they are needing extra support, as well as new clients who prefer to work intensively.

EMDR is not just for trauma; it is also used for performance enhancement to excel in areas such as athletics, business, and relationships.

  • We’ve all had those moments in therapy where we feel stuck or loop on issues related to negative life experiences. It can be discouraging for both the client and the therapist. Oftentimes, when the primary therapist and client collaborate with an EMDR therapist, this partnership can help move treatment forward.

    I partner with primary therapists and their clients to target their clients’ specific memories, body sensations, or limiting beliefs with EMDR. By narrowly targeting specific traumatic memories or intrusive material, brief adjunct EMDR can accelerate progress in traditional therapy, help the client and the primary therapist to resolve stuck points, and enrich their ongoing work.

    Adjunct therapy does not replace or interrupt ongoing therapy; it is supplemental to the primary therapeutic relationship. With adjunct EMDR therapy, clients continue to receive treatment with their primary therapist. Usually, adjunct therapy is short-term (4-12 extended sessions) and desensitizes single-incident trauma or simple phobias that interfere with the client’s therapeutic gains. Treatment is scheduled in an intensive format. The success of treatment is based on clearly defined goals for the EMDR therapist, defined in collaboration with the primary therapist and client.

    Personalized treatment workbook, which allows you to work on your treatment goals before, during, and after our EMDR intensive sessions.

    A customized treatment program with targeted treatment goals. Intensives can be in person or virtual and will be scheduled accordingly.

    Post-treatment interview to assess and support your adaption to positive changes from treatment.

    ONGOING INTENSIVE EMDR IS AVAILABLE IF YOU ARE WANTING LONG-TERM SUPPORT TOWARD SEVERAL TREATMENT GOALS.

  • I am typically in the office Monday through Thursday and my hours will vary. please note that there are limited after-school/ after work appointments.. email is the fastest way to contact me and then we can schedule a discovery call. If you leave a voicemail, I will return it within 24-48 business hours.

    I answer and return phone calls when I am out of the office. However, I wait until I am in a private setting out of respect for your confidentiality. Typically, I am in back-to-back sessions during my office hours; therefore, I often return phone calls on the next business day.

  • Currently, I am seeing clients virtually within the states of Georgia and Florida, with limited in-person availability in Georgia. I use the online platforms Doxy and/or Google Meet. A benefit of virtual sessions is that you can be located anywhere within the state of Georgia and Florida and work with me! It is noted that I have a Telehealth license only with the state of Florida.

    I offer limited in-person appointments located at 1225 Johnson Ferry Rd # 170, Marietta, GA 30068.

    Please note that these appointments are subject to change at my discretion.

  • I do not take health care insurance. I do accept Lyra EAP. My rate for a 50-60 minute individual session is $185.. Any session less than/over than 60 minutes are billed at a prorated amount. Couples sessions are 75-90 minutes and are $200 per session.

    For EMDR intensives, I accept Care Credit and PayPal Credit and can offer deferred interest through those companies. If you would like to discuss a private payment plan, please reach out and that can be discussed. You will be responsible to pay in full prior to each session. I cannot guarantee your insurance will reimburse you.

    I suggest calling your insurance company prior to beginning therapy to ask the following questions:

    Do I have out-of-network benefits? If so, how much does my policy cover if I see an out-of-network provider?

    Does my current policy have a deductible? What is the amount, how much has been met this year, and when does my policy renew?

    Is there a limit to how many therapy sessions I can attend in a year? If so, how many?

    Before meeting with an out-of-network provider, do I need to get prior authorization or do you need any information on the therapist?

    How do I submit a claim for my individual therapy sessions? What specific information do I need?

    If you are unable to afford this rate, look into https://openpathcollective.org for a directory of therapists that provide lower-cost services. I may also be able to connect you with someone if you would like some assistance.

    I do offer a 12-week, sliding scale program for clients who wish to work with me on targeted treatment goals and are not able to pay my full fee. Please note the sliding scale program is currently full..

  • I work with adolescents (age 16 and up), young adults, and adults. I am also available for couples counseling, with one of my specialties being premarital counseling. Please note that I do not offer family therapy but work closely with many family therapists and would be happy to provide referrals.

Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change in their lives.

    A number of benefits are available from participating in psychotherapy. Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues, and creative blocks. Many people also find that counselors can be a tremendous asset in managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, marriage issues, and the hassles of everyday life. Therapists can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.

  • I recommend weekly sessions start so that we can build rapport and trust, develop healthy and effective coping skills, and gain some momentum going in order to achieve your goals for therapy. After at least 4-6 weekly sessions, we can collaborate to determine how often we think you need to be seen. Additionally, I also offer 30-minute sessions (perfect for accountability, check-ins, and maintaining a therapeutic connection) and also longer, intensive sessions from anywhere from 90 minutes to 3 hours (don’t worry, breaks happen) if you feel one of these options would be helpful. Frequency is always discussed with you and in accordance with the No Surprises Act/Good Faith Estimate of 2022.

    EMDR can be effectively utilized for:

    Resourcing: We will work to strengthen internal resources while soothing parts of you that feel limited. EMDR utilizes images, emotions, body sensations, and positive cognitions to increase feelings of calm, safety, and confidence.

    Resolving relationship difficulties: Attachment-focused EMDR works to repair unmet development needs (often called attachment wounding) when we have experienced an absence of care/neglect or abuse.

    Trauma recovery: I often utilize EMDR for clients with trauma (e.g. a major car accident, assault, chronic or ongoing stressful conditions, such as interpersonal conflict, or difficult parents). EMDR may avoid some of the long and difficult emotional release work often involved in the treatment of anxiety, panic attack, post-traumatic stress symptoms (such as intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and flashbacks), dissociative disorders, depression, phobias, identity crises, other adverse experiences.

  • I am Intuitive/Practical eating informed and Health At Every Size (HAES) informed. This means that I am anti-diet, but this does not mean anti-health. Instead, it means that I look at all facets of health, including mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.

    HAES celebrates and honors body diversity and understands that one’s weight alone does not define health. Intuitive eating is about healing your relationship with food and removing labels of “good and bad” from food and finding peace with food. For many of my clients, this means freedom to them. I align with body neutrality/acceptance and focus on viewing our bodies as subjects, and not simply objects. Our body size does not define our worth and value. I also focus on embodiment which includes using the body as a resource.
