HI! I’m Amanda! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and a Master’s Degree in Psychology (with a Counseling specialty) from Argosy University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia and a Certified Professional Clinical Supervisor and offer supervision and consultation services.

I also have Telehealth Licenses in the states of Florida and Vermont. I am a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and completed my first teacher training under the direction of Isabelle Casey at the Sama Yoga School and the second training in 2021 at the Asheville yoga center. My yoga specialties include energetics, somatic work, and yin yoga. I spend my time living in Georgia and Florida with my husband and 3 teenage step-sons and our labradoodle, Charlotte (who is known to jump into sessions from time to time). During my free time, I love travel, being outside (especially at the beach), Burn Boot Camp and cooking!

I am a member of the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of Georgia and the Yoga Alliance.

Clinical Experience

My work experience includes working at psychiatric hospitals and emergency rooms in the Atlanta area conducting assessments. Additionally, I have worked on inpatient units and provided day programming to adolescents and women with eating disorders and trauma. I am very passionate about promoting a neutral/positive body image message, including speaking to dance camps on how to cultivate and maintain a health body image. I’m an anti-diet therapist and strong advocate of Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating. I also lead meditation groups and facilitate retreats for women with those wanting to heal their relationship to food and to improve body image.

Yoga

I started my yoga journey after the death of my father. I quickly discovered it helped me process my feelings and I began attending classes regularly. I then began learning about using other yogic principles, including pranayama and meditation. After a yoga retreat I attended in Italy, I realized I needed and wanted to learn more about yoga and how to help my clients heal with their own yoga practice.

After completing my first yoga teacher training in 2016, I then completed 20 hours of Yin Teacher Training under Douglas Johnson of the Mahapatha Yoga School.

I completed the 300 hour Asheville Yoga Center’s Advanced Yoga Studies program in 2021, which allows me to identify as a 500 hour registered yoga teacher. My advanced yoga studies have been focused on blending my work as a psychotherapist and a yoga teacher. I am also certified as a Rad Roller Yoga Instructor in Myofacial Release. Teaching yoga brought me the opportunity to co-teach a 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Mandrem, India at the Preksha Yoga Ashram under the direction of Yogi Madhav in 2017.

I have workshops available on topics such as anxiety and stress management, body acceptance, and trauma, in addition to myofascial release. My favorite styles of yoga are yin, restorative and slow flow. These practices help specifically with stress management and allow a connection between the mind and body.

I am available for private classes & workshops, in addition to my weekly schedule at Burn Boot Camp- Kennesaw.
